For Immediate Release
TROY, JUNE 29, 2022 – Kais-AIR, a division of Gallagher-Kaiser Corporation (GK), received the exclusive license from UK-based BladeRoom Group Limited (BRG) to design, fabricate and install data centers, or “BladeRooms” in North America. The partnership provides Kais-AIR with the exclusive rights to BladeRoom Group’s Intellectual Property (IP) and establishes them as the only entity in North America licensed to manufacture or sell BRG products.
“I can say on behalf of BladeRoom Group, that we are delighted with the recent appointment of Gallagher-Kaiser as our exclusive licensed partner in North America. Since our very first interactions, it was clear that the company’s values and ambitions align,” said BladeRoom Group CEO, William Thornton.
This agreement comes shortly after the Kais-AIR team moved in to their new 190,000sqft office and manufacturing campus in Holly, MI. The facility has undergone extensive renovations to support the aggressive growth the BRG product line will bring forth.
“When we started this division in 2021, we designed the entire operation to accommodate our plans to diversify,” said Tracy Roberts, GK president & COO. “From air handling units for GK’s new paint shop projects, to humidification controls in battery manufacturing facilities, to data centers and operating rooms; Kais-AIR was created to meet a wide spectrum of needs. We customized the Kais-AIR campus, and specifically the manufacturing space, to maximize their workload.”
Aside from the major facility upgrades, Tracy also worked closely with the Sheet Metal Air Rail and Transportation (SMART) international union to bring Local 292 to Holly, MI.
“It was important to me that our manufacturing spaces are still operated by the skilled personnel of SMART Local 292. The work with BladeRoom requires the highest standard in quality and I know we have the right team in place to produce these products.”
Kais-AIR capitalizes on GK’s existing expertise in modular fabrication and provides a natural avenue to diversify the enterprise. Much of the data center work is considered “mission critical” to require the utmost consideration for confidentiality, schedule, and above all, quality.
“We have been building an impressive portfolio of projects and products over the last 25 years in mission critical data centers and healthcare. Gallagher-Kaiser is poised to take this to the next level across the region,” said Thornton. “Our mutual desire to manufacture, deliver and support the highest quality mission critical infrastructure is driving action every day. The commitment to the opportunity has shown above all else and there is no doubt that we will have an exciting future with existing and new customers.”
As a General Motors (GM) strategic sourcing partner, GK is uniquely equipped to handle projects of this nature.
“For nearly a decade, we have been the sole supplier of GM paint shops in North America. That partnership is dependent on meeting the highest standards in safety, quality, and overall project delivery. The BladeRoom team recognized our unique experience and the many parallels between the project requirements,” Roberts said. “I’m confident we have the right facility, the right team and the right mindset to be BladeRoom’s North American arm.”
Jim Huff, Kais-AIR vice president, echoed Tracy’s confidence.
“In the 30 years that I’ve been in this business, this is the most excited I’ve been about what we’re working on,” said Huff. “We have the best of the best on our team, the most expansive resources with the power of GK behind us and the most impressive IP from BladeRoom. I can’t wait to take the BRG product to our North American customer base.”
