Joseph Kaiser, III began G-K in 1952 with his friends Edward Gallagher and August Fegert. The Company manufactured industrial sheet metal products such as ductwork, steel enclosures, small platforms, storage racks, and small parts washers for the automotive industry. Joseph Kaiser, III is the father of the current owners Joseph Kaiser, IV and Robert Kaiser and Grandfather to Vice-President Joseph Kaiser, V.
In the 1960s, G-K was supplying steel mills and foundries with dust collectors and industrial sheet metal products. Some of its customers were National Steel, Bethlehem Steel, and the Pontiac Foundry. The Company began to implement dust and fume collection systems for the automotive industry, since paint contaminated air had to be cleaned before
reentering the atmosphere.
During the 1970s, the Company evolved from producing industrial sheet metal products into producing complete turnkey paint finishing systems, including facility construction. Services slowly evolved into piping, roofing, and painting, as well as the general design, manufacture, and installation of complete systems.
During the 1980s, the Company acquired licenses in several states to build complete paint finishing systems. In 1988, G-K invented and obtained a patent on its spray booth that remains to this day. G-K began producing a wide range of spray booths used for hand spray, automatic electrostatic spray, and robotic spray equipment for painting parts of all types and sizes. Industrial manufacturing customers began using G-K to build additions onto their facilities, including all aspects of the installation.
