SPRING HILL OVERVIEW
Gallagher-Kaiser Scope
The Paint Shop Renovations for GM Spring Hill consisted of (3) phases. Phase I included metal prep (Phosphate & E-Coat), Phase II included
Miscellaneous Booth and Decks, as well as spray booth reconfiguration and oven reworks and extensions. Additionally a non functioning Laser Braze and Blackout Booths were converted to a Correction Enclosure. Phase III Included updates to the existing Fascia System.
Oven System modifications required the ovens to cure full size SUV’s in lieu of plastic panels. To accomplish this Gallagher Kaiser performed actual shop testing to develop the requirements for temperature, time, velocities and ductwork configuration to prove out our recommended design to cure these areas on the new vehicle.
New sill heating systems and ductwork was installed on all four ovens based on our calculations and testing. After the implication of this design the curing of the sills exceeded the GM requirements for time and temperature. Datapaq oven curves were well within specifications.
Following are some of the other scope of work performed on the ovens:
- Upgraded all gas trains and burners.
- Provide and installed flue exhaust fans in all zones.
- Upgraded control system.
- Demolished existing abandon ductwork and incinerators.
- Extended Top coat 3 Oven and relocated existing cooler.
